Who we are
The Foundation for Persian Archaeological Studies (FPAS) is a nonprofit public benefit organization based in California. We are a community of passionate scholars, researchers, and heritage advocates with deep backgrounds in historic preservation, cultural studies, and academic inquiry. United by a shared commitment to the rich and profound history of the Persian Plateau, we believe it is imperative to study and illuminate the civilizations that flourished there—civilizations whose stories extend far beyond the narrow narratives often found in mainstream literature. Our work seeks to recover, preserve, and share the depth, diversity, and brilliance of ancient Persia and its neighboring cultures so that this heritage may inspire new knowledge, spark dialogue, and strengthen cultural understanding for generations to come.
VISION
A world where the archaeological heritage of Persia and the Persian Plateau — as part of humanity's shared history — inspires curiosity, dialogue, and cultural understanding across communities, bridging past and present to foster a more informed and connected future.
MISSION
Our mission is to study, preserve, and share knowledge of ancient Persia and the Persian Plateau through:
• Dissemination of Primary research and archaeological findings
• Educational storytelling and multimedia platforms including video, publications, and online resources
• Partnerships with museums, universities, cultural organizations, and research institutions focused on our mission and vision
• Public programs, exhibitions, and workshops that make Persian archaeological knowledge accessible to global audiences
While centered on Persia, the Foundation embraces comparative and global perspectives in order to highlight Persia's role in the broader story of human civilization
